Daily Twitter Brain Transmission
Today's Report:

  • 12:27 Yeah, no, didn't see the USA get completely OWNED by Brazil. #
  • 12:39 RT @Lea_Ada_Franco RT @DavidGallaher RT @kwanzer: Would-be comic creators, READ and LEARN! is.gd/15kAv #comics #webcomics #
  • 12:40 @Lea_Ada_Franco I would tend to agree with both of those points. #
  • 12:45 @mrtonylee Not seen #3 yet but God, yes, PHONOGRAM is the bomb. (Word, @bremxjones + @McKelvie) #
  • 12:48 RT @johnreppion RT: @johncoulthart: The Readers of Boing Boing interview Michael Moorcock. Fab. bit.ly/b6pSl #
  • 12:52 @JHickman Not like Bruce Arena could have done better against Brazil, but, yeah, Bradley is unimpressive. #
  • 12:53 RT @JHickman You know what? It's follow Thursday just for this guy: @firebobbradley #
  • 13:04 @mattsheret Good luck, have a safe flight, friend. #
  • 13:06 @smithmag "Sometimes it's easier just staying asleep." #
  • 13:07 @Agent_M Nobody said life had to be all indie films but life's too short to spend watching bad films period. If you like it, fair enough. #
  • 13:10 Sent off some notes to an artist. Finally getting back to comics-work. #
  • 15:32 @Jerwa "SATAN! SATAN! SATAN!" #
  • 15:34 RT [REDACTED] Tehran is alive with the sound of people on their balcony shouting 'Allah Akbar - Ya Hossein - Mir Hossein ' - #Iranelection #
  • 15:51 If yr like me and trying to get somewhere in comics, follow for advice: @CBCebulski @KevinColden @mrtonylee @neilkleid @DavidGallaher #
  • 15:51 I'm sure there are plenty of others, but they're on about it right now, and frequently. #
  • 15:52 Show support for democracy in Iran add green overlay to your Twitter avatar with 1-click - helpiranelection.com/ #
  • 15:53 Back to comics: my experience is somewhat limited to date, and have been frought with issues involving artists going awry, or quitting. #
  • 15:54 So the following is MY advice what I've learned as a relative newbie: #
  • 15:55 1) Be confident in your own abilities, and stories, and ideas. Make sure you develop the SKILLS to match the confidence. You've no idea..... #
  • 15:55 .....how long it took me to marry the two. I've always had the skills to put together a coherent story. Didn't have the confidence however. #
  • 15:56 2) Start small. Try 2, 3, 5, 8 pagers. Don't come up with an epic tale from the get-go. THE GRAVE: fell apart. THERE IS A LIGHT: printed. #
  • 15:57 3) Don't think you're better than someone else. You're not. Seriously. Don't be the "next" Anybody, either. Be the First [Name Here]. #
  • 15:58 4) Take non-standard opportunities. Webcomics, minicomics, local papers, etc. #
  • 15:59 5) Don't JUST write comics, either. #
  • 15:59 6) If you must work (as I do), write on your breaks. Seriously. Yeah, I know I'm tweeting, but less This, more That. Did some today in fact. #
  • 16:01 All for now, might come back to this later. And feel free to smack this down, or whatever. I'm still learning this is just what I've learned #
  • 16:04 @KevinColden @DavidGallaher My list isn't so impressive, just IT and cooking, but a lot of them; parent of autistic child, too. #
  • 17:41 @kitschfactor @Papaverine Good lord, why are you forced to endure such torture? It's on at work or something? #
  • 17:44 @kitschfactor Mm. Yeah unless you make other arrangements yr kinda stuck then. #
  • 17:51 @kitschfactor There is that but after a while your brain just starts to REJECT FALSE REALITY. #
  • 17:54 @moonandserpent @willowbl00 Yeaaaahhhh I think Kevin wins this one ;-) #
  • 17:55 @neilkleid Yup. I learned that the hard way, and it wasn't even at the "selling" stage -- couldn't keep an artist for it!!! #
  • 17:56 @kitschfactor You don't say. #
